Chao Long Motor Parts Corp Receives ISO 26262 Automotive Functional Safety Process Certification

On April 9, 2025, Chao Long, a leading manufacturer of vehicle instrument clusters, was awarded the ISO 26262 process certification by SGS. This recognition affirms that the company’s automotive product development processes comply with the functional safety system framework and uphold high standards of reliability.

With the rapid advancement of automotive electronics, while offering convenience and diverse functionality, the focus on product safety and risk management has intensified. As a result, automotive functional safety now faces new challenges in areas from technological R&D and process control to hardware usage and software applications. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) established ISO 26262 to define whether automotive electronic products meet the necessary Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL). ISO 26262 is a globally recognized automotive functional safety standard that spans the entire product lifecycle. Chao Long’s certification indicates its ability to meet the rigorous functional safety requirements of automotive systems.

In recent years, rapid developments in automotive electronics have driven the rise of smart driving, electric vehicles, and autonomous driving technologies, which demand higher levels of vehicle safety and reliability. From advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications, the market's demand for high-standard safety certifications has increased significantly. ISO 26262 has thus become an indispensable safety standard in the field of automotive electronics.

As a benchmark enterprise in Taiwan, Chao Long has been dedicated to the research and production of vehicle instruments since its establishment in 1973. With the development of Taiwan’s automotive and motorcycle industries, Chao Long has actively pursued safety and practicality in its product development. Utilizing professional production techniques, processes, and equipment, the company provides efficient, high-quality products and has earned industry recognition over the years. Chairman Mr. Wang Yung-Hsiang stated, “Chao Long is committed to delivering solutions that comply with strict safety standards. Through extensive efforts, we have achieved ISO 26262 process certification from SGS-TÜV Saar, and we will continue to offer well-designed products and solutions in the automotive sector.”

Mr. Chang Cheng-Chang, Deputy General Manager of the Connectivity & Products Division of SGS Taiwan, remarked: “SGS provides professional automotive electronics solutions and is dedicated to ensuring compliance across automotive products, quality systems, production, and product design. We are pleased to contribute to the automotive industry and congratulate Chao Long on passing this rigorous international certification.” SGS will continue to offer comprehensive automotive solutions including ISO 26262, ISO 21434, ASPICE, ISO 24089, and ISO 21448.

Achieving ISO 26262 certification is a key milestone in our pursuit of higher standards. We will continue to invest in advanced technology and quality management to ensure our products meet the strictest safety requirements, while continuing to provide safe and reliable solutions to our customers.

The development of smart instrument technology has also become a significant trend in automotive electronics. With the widespread adoption of digital instrument panels, full LCD displays, and augmented reality (AR) head-up displays (HUDs), driver demand for information visualization and human-machine interaction is increasing. Smart instruments not only offer more intuitive display of driving information but also integrate deeply with ADAS and V2X technologies to enhance driving safety and user experience. As vehicle electronic architecture evolves toward centralized computing platforms, highly integrated smart instruments will become essential features in future vehicles.

Looking ahead, Chao Long will continue to deepen its R&D efforts in the field of functional safety, further enhancing product performance and safety to meet the evolving needs of the automotive industry.
